The Northern Design Quarter (NDQ) is an online business network built on cutting edge 3D Web technology. By using a 3D Web browser, users can immerse themselves in an online virtual environment that simulates working experiences, lets them collaborate with other users and showcase their businesses in a completely new and innovative way.
Real world business environments (such as offices, training centres and exhibition stands) can be simulated and navigated in real time, on a desktop PC. Other registered users globally, can then interact and communicate with one another effortlessly in these environments via an onscreen virtual body or "avatar".
The NDQ district is approximately 10 Hectares of land which sits within a significantly larger virtual online business network. The NDQ is a space being offered free to the North East of England’s Creative Sector by allowing SMEs, business support agencies, knowledge transfer institutions and the Northern Design Centre to be co-present in an online, 3D immersive world.
Funded by The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), allocated by the European Union and implemented by ONE North East; a qualifying SME will be given a 20x20m plot of land that can used as they wish to promote, exhibit, and demonstrate their business on a global scale.
The NDQ is a new dimension of business.
