Newcastle based iEvo Ltd was set up to supply the 7500 access control providers with biometric security systems. Supplying state of the art finger print reader technology in the UK, the company wanted to increase its share of the global £1.4bn security market by developing its own IP protected system.
Unable to find a suitable product for the UK, European and US market, iEvo set out to develop a biometric door entry unit of their own.
By looking at existing products, the company was able to create a design brief which outlined more desirable features and specifications such as compact size, weather resistance, ease of installation, vandal resistance and product aesthetics.
Jesmond based design consultancy, e3 Design, was tasked with designing the new product around iEvo’s innovative sensor. By developing a tough injection moulded housing, e3 Design were fully able to meet the requirements of the brief resulting in an attractive product that is fully weatherproof, easy to install and provides an enhanced user experience.
The company is now close to securing its first major contract with a major supplier to the Aerospace industry.
“iEvo would not have existed without Design Network North. We knew nothing of design or the design process and without DNN we couldn’t have brought such a professional product to market in such a short period of time.
“DNNs project mentor and our designers, e3D, have delivered above and beyond.”
