Latest updates from Pd-m

Design Network North member Pd-m have a few updates to share. This innovation and product design business were featured in New Design magazine this month. The six page interview with Managing Director Richard Hall was an overview of the business since its inception in 2005. Richard reflected on the last thirteen years’ of the consultancy including its research capability, user centred design, innovation management, 3D printing, AI and VR.

Early this year Pd-m continued with its growth plans by purchasing an old print works building in Thirsk. The 115 square metre facility was completely renovated over the Summer to create an open plan reception area, design studio, dedicated workshop, VR area and 3D print room. Moving from its previous home in Ripon, the new larger facility will allow for Pd-m’s expansion plans of resource and equipment.

This Autumn Pd-m increased its team with the addition of three new product designers. The designers, who graduated from Northumbria, Loughborough and Teesside respectively will enable Pd-m to increase its capacity to deliver research, design and manufacturing projects.

In order to extend its in-house 3D printer resource Pd-m have invested in an SLS 3D printer to add to its range of FDM and SLA. The investment will allow the business to produce components and assemblies which have structural integrity to validate computational modelling.
