We've been awarded funding through Creative Fuse North East

We are delighted to announce that we are one of the 31 Innovation Pilots funded by Creative Fuse North East. We teamed up with likeminded businesses to put our project proposal ‘Applying Digital Technologies to Create New Ways of Designing, Manufacturing and Selling Clothing’ forward earlier this year.

Creative Fuse North East involves all five of the region’s universities and aims to boost the Creative, Digital and IT (CDIT) sector.

We will use the resource to support local clothing manufacturers to grow faster, and to raise their game, and digital technology as the key for them to be able to achieve this.

Our project will bring together specialists from the creative digital sector, designers and manufacturers in the clothing sector together with academic experts to create a new digital platform to enable design and showcasing clothing products using 3D design, virtual and augmented reality.

Even though these technologies are well established in gaming and leisure, and are being applied in architecture, construction and manufacturing, they are not yet widely used in clothing design and manufacture. Therefore, we wish to give North East companies a head start by creating tools that are customised to their needs.

The project will be managed by RTC North (Design Network North), co-founder of the Northern Clothing and Textiles Network. However much of the development and testing will be carried out by the manufacturers themselves.
